Pass Ontario G2 License to G without testing

Pass Ontario G2 License to G without testing
The Issue
As the Ontario Government is currently dealing with over 400,000 canceled road tests, and who knows how many more that have not even had the chance to book, the backlog could take years to clear.
The Ontario Government should allow all current G2 license holders to move immediately to the G level to reduce this backlog and support our disproportionately affected younger populations to secure employment and continue the move to the new normal.
With very minimal differences in restrictions between G2 and G licenses, it would be both practical and reasonable for the Ontario Government to allow these drivers to move forward without the uncertainty of losing what could be their sole source of income and freedom. Between the G2 and G licenses there are only 3 core restrictions: a 12 month practice period, which could still be observed and only pass individuals that have completed those 12 months, a zero blood alcohol allowance, and the requirement that there are only as many passengers as there are seat belts in the vehicle. With the first restriction being the only measurable and realistic reason to need a second test, it falls to the province and the Ministry of Transportation to support its citizens in this time of need.
Current backlogs across the province have months of fully booked Drive Test centers, with people traveling sometimes hours to find a location with an available test slot. Not only is this incredibly challenging to manage, requiring time off work or school, but it is also pushing more folks to travel within the province when we are so close to re-opening.
