Currently, citizens that live inside the premises of the town of Carolina Shores, NC within the Carolina Shores Property Owners Association are unable to have waste/garbage/trash removal from their homes and properties. Instead the residents must take their trash to the convenient center site located on Persimmon Rd. This is a major issue because of a multitude of reasons.

Many residents of Carolina Shores are elderly and can not physically lift heavy trash bags into their vehicles and out to the large dumpsters, many do not have a license or are unable to drive their trash to the convenient site due to medical issues. 
Other residents who are able bodied may not be able to dispose of trash due to their work schedules as the convenient center operates on a very limited schedule of daytime hours when these people are out at their jobs and should not have to take time off of work to take their trash out. 
Additionally, the expectation of making citizens load up trash bags into their personal vehicles and drive miles down the road is unpleasant, unsanitary and down right disgusting. 

There are many other reasons to be heard on why it is ridiculous to expect residents to take their trash to a remote location on a regular basis.

I don’t know what the true reasoning is behind the citizens not being allowed to have trash removal in the Property Owners Association jurisdiction, I don’t know the validity or credibility of them but several are:

“It would be unsightly or noisy to have trash trucks come up the road”

“The roads aren’t meant for trash trucks to come up and down the road.”

I do not feel that these opinions represent the majority of the citizens here and that most individuals would agree to have at least once weekly trash removal at their residence. Not to mention, trash removal is already included in Brunswick County taxes and is listed as a service the county provides its citizens. Unfortunately we the citizens of Carolina Shores POA are being denied the service we are provided and paying for without a say.
