WARNING!!! CarMax is selling hazardous Chevy Bolts that GM recalled because they are prone to catching on fire. The AutoCheck reports say things like "It is recommended that this vehicle be taken to the nearest dealer to have the recalled components replaced or fixed."
The catch: so far, GM doesn't have a fix available. In fact, the safety recall notices for the cars state that there is "No remedy available."
What can happen? Just ask Vermont state Rep. Timothy Briglin. The VT State Police released this photo of his burned-out Bolt. It could have been worse -- at least no one was injured or killed, but that easily could have happened, especially if children were strapped into child safety seats, or if the fire burned down homes or other structures.
Don't get stuck with a hazardous fire trap you can't get repaired. Always check for unrepaired recalls, and if the dealer failed to get them fixed, find another car that doesn't have a potentially deadly safety defect.
