For several years Unison, GMB and Unite trade unions have been trying to get a trade union recognition agreement for Cwm Environmental (a company that is 100% owned by Carmarthenshire County Council (currently led by Plaid Cymru). We have faced obstruction and delaying tactics throughout this time from both the council (that recognises the above trade unions) and the company they wholly own. A trade union agreement would allow the unions to collectively negotiate better pay, terms and conditions that are at present significantly worse for our Cwm members than for council workers doing similar jobs. We think it is scandalous that Plaid led Carmarthenshire County Council does not instruct Cwm Environmental to implement a Trade Union Recognition Agreement and we call on them to do so immediately.
