Change Carlmont's Prom Date to Respect Jewish Students' Faith

Carlmont High School's Prom is scheduled for the first night of Passover, a very important holiday in the Jewish tradition. Passover, or Pesach, celebrates the liberation of the Jewish people, and imposes dietary restrictions while reminding Jews of our past struggles and continued perseverance. This is, unfortunately, not the first time Carlmont has scheduled an event in direct conflict with a Jewish holiday, the first being Rosh Hashana falling on the same day as Carlmont's Welcome Back Assembly. Rosh Hashana is the Jewish New Year, and one of the two most important holidays, when Jewish people reflect on their past and look to their future, spending all day in temple to pray and give thanks. Please let the school know that you stand with Carlmont's Jewish students in requesting that our prom and Welcome Back Assembly be moved, so we can celebrate Passover and Rosh Hashana with our families and at our temple without having to miss such an important high school tradition.
