Allow Carleton students to submit alternative logos to the three new ones provided.
The Issue
Carleton University is seeking a new visual identity through the choice and use of a new university logo as part of their Reputation Enhancement Program, and has sought student feedback on three proposed logos. These three logos, however, appear lacking in how they present the values and strengths that were intended to come across in this new design initiative. Carleton is looking for a logo that shows how dynamic, foreword-looking, inclusive, bold, innovative, and distinctive that Carleton is as a university in the nation's capital, and it seems that the new logo could be redesigned to represent these attributes much more effectively.
Here we are proposing that Carleton allow students themselves to design and submit new logos for the university, thus making the process far more inclusive and representative of the real diversity in the student body. By allowing students to be a part of the logo redesign process, we feel that the new logo may better represent the aforementioned values while also being a truer representation of how Carleton is viewed by the students themselves. We propose that these student submitted logos should be presented alongside the three current potential logos when seeking future feedback from students.
