Prof Steve Field needs to be expelled from CQC and publicly apologise to all GPs

The Issue

Prof Steve Field's recent public remarks in the gutter press claiming he was "ashamed of being a GP" are irresponsible, demoralising and completely unnecessary.

GPs are experiencing spiralling workloads and plummeting morale and we do not expect these types of statements from a so called "Leader" of the profession. These remarks are significantly damaging to a profession already in crisis and will worsen the existing recruitment and retention crisis.

I am demanding an immediate public apology from Prof Steve Field, together with his expulsion as Chief Inspector of CQC.
