Care of Street Dogs to Control Population in Nagpur
The Issue
We wish to bring to your kind notice a very important social and humanitarian aspect which we all experience every day but unfortunately does not gather attention of all those who matter in Government machinery.
We all must agree that all creations of God have a right live and survive gracefully whether or not we believe that dogs are a nuisance. We all have the right to our individual perceptions.
There is a sect in our society called ANIMAL LOVERS, for which every creation of God contributes to nature in their own to create ecological balance and needs to be looked after with passion and love.
Coming down to brass text, the last couple of the Govt. agencies (NMC is probably one of them), who were carrying out a DOG SPAYING program have now discontinued. This has resulted in a population that has multiplied astronomically. Now, we understand that that THE SUPREME COURT has already instructed to carry out spaying in all states in order to keep a check on DOG population.
We request your good self to issue suitable directives to the concerned Departments/Officials to undertake this spaying program in a time bound manner and monitor the progress by an apex body.
The emphasis may kindly be laid on spaying of bitches (female dogs), which will have remarkable effect on the program. Most often the concerned officials undertake such programs on numerical basis which may add to their credentials of having performed so many operations in their area. The emphasis needs to be on ground results as to how much of their number has decreased every month.
The directives must also include the importance of postoperative care of all such dogs and the erring must be held accountable.
Your personal attention in this very important social cause will go a long way in bringing a sigh of relief to animal lovers even dog haters. Requesting an immediate response. The entire country needs your indulgence in this matter. With profound regards.
