Cardiff Council plans to reduce the existing four HWRC sites to two - Waun Gron has already closed and is the subject of a petition to re-open it which has already attracted over 1000 names.  The site at Lamby Way will also shortly close leaving Bessemer Close and the proposed super site at Wedal Road which will be more than three times the size of the existing facility.  Wedal Road is a residential area close to Roath Park and a major ambulance route to UHW. It already suffers from serious traffic congestion and the new site will increase these problems and add to the existing noise and traffic pollution. Not only is Wedal Road an unsuitable site, but the Council's policy also reduces choice and convenience for the public.  If a Super HWRC must be created then Lamby Way or a similar site away from residential areas and with better infrastructure would be a much better option and would allow the closure of the existing unsuitable site at Wedal Road.
