Oppose speed bumps/speed tables being installed on Lansdowne Road
The Issue
Cardiff Council are planning to install multiple speed bumps along the length of Lansdowne road, Cardiff.
Despite the plans being near the end of the consultation phase, residents of lansdowne road have yet to be informed, it has only come to light due to a few residents in neighbouring side streets being notified via post.
Installing speed bumps will increase noise pollution and exhaust emissions due to the constant acceleration and braking for each bump. Traffic will not flow consistently and will lead to endless traffic jams.
Furthermore emergency service response times will increase, which will inevitably put lives at risk.
Vehicles will also look to use alternate routes to avoid the bumps which will in-turn increase traffic in all surrounding roads.
We propose that the plans be reviewed with hopes of an average speed camera system be put in place instead, which will reduce carbon emissions, noise pollution and help maintain prompt emergency response times.
