I am starting a petition to reopen cemeteries.

Due to Covid_19 the council have shut cemeteries with no notice, this is not government legislation and has not been proposed by the Priminister.

Cardiff Council have made this decision internally and not given any explanation as to why other than it relates to Covid_19

I do not see how social distancing protocols are being breached by visiting a loved ones grave once a week. 

By law everyone can go out on there own or with members of their household once a day to parks and other venues, so why is a cemetery any different. 

I personally have visited my mother's grave every week for 7 years. I now cannot visit for an undisclosed period of time. 

Takeaways, small corner shops that pretty much sell cigarettes and alcohol are still open, construction work can all still go ahead, there is a builder working on the house opposite mine, but cemeteries will now only open for scheduled funerals. 

This is an important thing for many people and to have that right taken away is unacceptable and will negatively affect a lot of people's mental health.
