While everybody should have a right to a decent home... Why is the City of Cape Town forcing the residents of Maitland to accept low cost housing to be built, which will not even benifit any of the actual Maitland residents? 

We are aware of the bad elements that such a project will bring to our area and we the residents are saying No to City of Cape Town.. for wanting to dump people on the side of a railway line, we are saying find a better suited location with the proper infrastructure! 

Have  the City considered the safety of those who will be housed, the safety of the residents in the area? 

Who will be accountable? Who will maintain this project? 

How will our rates and value of our homes be affected? Maitland has squatters and back yard dwellers too where will they be forced to go to? Why are our own residents from Maitland not being offered help? 

Why has our previous objections been ignored? What happened to previous petitions we have signed? 

We say for too long our people have overlooked and ignored issues which we were not pleased with, we say let's take a stand let us work together to build a better future for the next generation.. 

We have to take back Maitland!
