In 1996, a study was done that revealed Highway 55 (Karcher Road) needed expanded from 2 to 4, preferably 5 lanes from Middleton Road to at least 10th Avenue. Since then, a few intersections have been expanded to 5 lanes and traffic signals have been installed, but the total expansion has been pushed further and further into the future.  

Within the last 10 or 15 years, dozens of subdivisions have been built that have contributed to traffic on Highway 55.  On June 11, 2021, the state of Idaho sold 282 acres of land adjacebt to Vallivue Middle School to a developer that will add nearly 900 homes (at least) with Highway 55 being the main arterial roadway for those homes. 

Anyone who uses Highway 55 as a commuting route knows it is an extremely over crowded, dangerous roadway.  In the morning and afternoon commute, traffic is backed up for 3 to 4 miles.

Enough is enough!!!! The state has avoided expanding this Highway for over 26 years!!!! It is time we demand action from our state representatives.  Expand Highway 55 now!!!
