As an African American, I am deeply troubled by the Good Times Netflix animated reboot. This show perpetuates highly offensive stereotypes surrounding Black culture, which is not only disrespectful but also harmful to our community's representation in media. It's essential to understand that such portrayals can contribute to systemic racism and bias (Source: NAACP). We need shows that accurately represent our diverse cultures and experiences, not those that resort to outdated and harmful stereotypes for cheap laughs. By cancelling this reboot, Netflix can send a powerful message about its commitment to respectful representation of all cultures and communities.
