As someone who has witnessed the devastating effects of domestic violence, I am deeply disturbed by Nicki Minaj's recent actions. She made a diss tape against a young woman, mocking her after she was shot in the foot. This act is not only distasteful and low class but also perpetuates hate and bullying within the music industry.

Nicki Minaj's actions are particularly concerning given her influence in the industry and among young fans. It is unacceptable to use such influence to belittle victims of violence, especially women of color who already face disproportionate rates of violence. According to the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS), about 1 in 4 Black women have experienced sexual violence at some point in their lives.

This incident is not an isolated one; Nicki Minaj has been accused several times before for disrespecting women, particularly those of color. Such behavior reflects poorly on her character and sets a dangerous precedent for others in the industry.

We cannot allow this kind of behavior to go unchecked or normalized. We demand that Nicki Minaj issue an apology for her insensitive remarks towards this young woman and all victims of violence she has disrespected over time.
