In Canada it is illegal to carry pepper spray or pocket knives for self defence/protection. You can face up to 10 years in prison if caught using them. Attacks against women are getting worse and more frequent and in Canada we don’t have any way to defend ourselves like they can in the US. We shouldn’t be afraid to defend ourselves against an attacker for fear of being imprisoned. We shouldn’t have to live in fear. Change the law so that it’s only illegal to use those objects for anything other than their intended purpose. We should be able to defend ourselves by any means necessary especially  if our lives are at risk. Cases of sexual assault, rape, abuse of women are growing. You have taken away our right to defend ourselves and that’s not okay. This needs to change. Let us make women and anyone else who fears being attacked and assaulted, feel safer knowing we can fight back.
