We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned with the rising crime rates across our country and the inability of current laws to adequately protect Canadians in their own homes. Break-ins, violent crimes, and property invasions are steadily increasing, leaving ordinary families feeling unsafe in the very place where they should feel most secure.

Far too often, we see headlines where homeowners who defend themselves, their families, or their property are treated more harshly by the justice system than the criminals who initiated the crime. The current legal framework puts law-abiding citizens at a disadvantage and emboldens criminals who know that homeowners have limited rights to defend themselves without fear of prosecution.

Castle Law would ensure that Canadians have the clear and legal right to protect themselves, their families, and their homes from intruders without the risk of criminal charges for doing what is necessary to stay safe. This law is not about promoting violence—it is about protecting innocent people and sending a message that Canadian citizens will not be easy targets for criminals.

Canada’s justice system is failing to deter repeat offenders, and police response times are often too slow to prevent a tragedy once an intruder has entered a home. Canadians deserve the peace of mind that comes with knowing the law is on their side when it comes to defending their loved ones.

We call upon the federal government and provincial legislatures to act swiftly to introduce and pass Castle Law protections in Canada. Our families, our homes, and our communities deserve nothing less.
