To create a stamp for the Centennial Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide

This year, on April 24, the First Genocide of the 20th century - The Armenian Genocide – commemorates its Centennial Anniversary. One hundred years ago more than one and half million Armenian Christians, and a vast number of Greeks, Assyrians and other minorities, were massacred and deported from their homeland by the Ottoman Empire.

I, the undersigned, draw attention to Canada Post Corporation and Stamp Advisory Committee to the following:

WHEREAS on April 24, 2015, the first genocide of the 20th century - The Armenian Genocide – commemorates its Centennial Anniversary.

-  WHEREAS in 2002, the Senate of Canada adopted motion M-44 to recognize the Armenian genocide.

-  WHEREAS in 2004, the House of Commons voted for motion M-380 that read:

"That this House acknowledges the Armenian genocide of 1915 and condemns this act as a crime against humanity”.

-  WHEREAS Canada is a country which prides itself on the rule of law and of the respect of human rights and liberties.

THEREFORE, by signing this petition, I am calling upon the Canada Post  Corporation and Stamp Advisory Committee to create a stamp for the Centennial Commemoration of the Armenian genocide.
