Can You Recognize Animal Abuse?

Can You Recognize Animal Abuse?
The Issue
Many pets, farm animals, and even strays, suffer abuse each day. It's a heartbreaking reality, and one that too often goes unreported, and even unnoticed.
According to ASPCA Animal Behavior Center's Kristen Collins, CPDT, "It's almost impossible to make conclusions based on a pet's behavior alone. The best way to tell whether a pet is being or has been abused is to observe his body and the surrounding environment."
Some of the most obvious signs are extreme thinness, open wounds, and embedded collars. There are also signs that you may not consider straight away, such as an animal being left outside all the time (does it have proper food, water, and shelter?), and lack of proper grooming. Here is a great list of all the signs and what do to about if you witness abuse.
