Bottom line first: We demand Principal David Narain be retained and his contract renewed for another 4-year period! To that end, we're galvanizing parents, students, staff and community to seek justice and stability. WE ARE KING!

The Local School Council (LSC) held a special meeting over the winter break and voted to not renew Principal Narain's contract. As a result, our phenomenal Assistant Principal Lynda Parker is vulnerable of being removed from our school as well! As the stakeholders of King College Prep High School, we were completely blindsided and not given any courtesies to let us know they were voting earlier than the established LSC evaluation timelines. This critically important meeting was held under the radar and did not solicit any input from current parents, students, educators or our community. Ironically, The LSC saw fit to invite and solicit input from former students and former teachers, who clearly have no regard or respect for our young scholars future and quality of life! 

We question the integrity of this vote and firmly object to their rogue decisioning.

Our confidence in Principal Narain and Assistant Principal Parker stem from their dedication to education equity, programs, community and culture and parent engagement. Through their open-door policy, we see a real commitment to continued academic success and achievement, positive trends and rewards. We are fortunate to have engaged, admired and competent administrators that love the school as their home and students as their own! Together, their reputations precede them as integral, devoted and passionate educators who operate above reproach. They are the epitome of servant leaders! We are committed to support and help them build upon the excellent gains/trends happening throughout our school. We will explore all options to ensure we retain these proficient leaders! 

Proven research data tells us that leading change in a school requires a multi-year investment. Stable leadership matters! Keeping school leaders in place for multiple years - and improving their performance - has a positive effect on student outcomes, particularly in high-poverty schools. It takes principals on average 5-years to put a vision in place for a school, improve instructional quality and fully implement policies and practices that positively affect a school’s performance. Schools that don’t retain principals beyond this point will inevitably struggle to get a foothold on meaningful change.
