I am a 16 year old student who is currently studying GCSE Citizenship. The more that I have learned during studying politics has raised a lot of questions in my mind as to why 16 year old's are still unable to vote. Young people are the future of today's world and should therefore be the ones to be asked what they would like for the future. I have friends who wish to experience working abroad in Europe and due to Brexit they cannot fulfill their dreams. I feel if young people had their voices heard, issues such as Brexit may have had a different outcome. 16 year old's are put under huge pressure to succeed in their exams, and pressure is put on them to behave like adults, but yet when it comes to making decisions about the future, we are silenced.
