Stop Cristo Rey Atlanta staff from leading and teaching with racism and prejudice.

The Issue

Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School is a network institution made to serve minority students and prepare them for success. Unfortunately, the school has subjected almost 5 classes of students to rampant racism and prejudice. In a recent social media post (https://www.instagram.com/p/CBMelZMAzwk/?igshid=yxqxnriygd6t alumnae and current students shared almost 140 different stories of racist encounters by staff and faculty.

Highlighting only the students' socioeconomic disadvantage to the media and corporate partners, the school has refused to treat students in a humane manner, often operating school hours as if it was prison. On numerous occasions, students have been showed that the school's donors and image are of more importance than themselves. Since the beginning, the school's leadership have operated with corruption, racism, and greed. We are demanding reform within the school.

We demand:

A statement of reform and plan of action from the school's leadership

Staff and curriculum diversification (tailored to the Latino and African American experience)

An updated handbook more inclusive of African American hairstyles and culture

Opportunities for students to give feedback and participate in the school's cultural reform
