Hello: My dad turns 96 years old today! He is currently in Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Manitoba suffering physical and mental exhaustion....and he will not be with his wife of 71 years.

What will it take for the Manitoba Government to review the current health policies and procedures and recognize the mental health complications caused by separation anxiety in the elderly?

The shameful and disrepectful manner in which government is treating seniors in Manitoba is incomprehensible!

My message to Minister Cameron Friesen is, your day will come - not only as your parents age (and you as well), it is then you will understand the inadequacies of the medical system as it stands now. And remember, that you could actually do something about it. Why not form a task committee to examine the current regulations regarding differing health needs and mental health issues, or look to other provinces for "best practices", or appoint a health advocate?

To do nothing is supportive of a heartless and cruel system. Shame on you and your elected officials in not dealing with these very real and growing issues.
