Prong collars are a cruel and ineffective tool for training dogs. Many dog owners cause irreparable damage and psychological trauma to their dog companions simply because they are not aware of the dangers that accompany these inhumane training tools.

To encourage more humane dog training and handling, signatories of this petition call on the Cambridge City Council to adopt a ban on prong collar use in public park spaces. This measure will result in long-term benefits to public safety, as dog owners will be encouraged toward more effective positive-reinforcement training. It will also result in be healthier and safer dogs.
