HELP WAT VELUVANA FREE INJUSTICE FROM THE BOARD OF COMMITTEE FOR OUR CAMBODIAN COMMUNITY
The Issue
Wat Veluvana is a public temple where people from all over the world travel near & far to do merit & pray. Beautiful temples built from donations of Irvington, AL and all the surrounding community’s from all the states along the Gulf Coast and many more.
On December 19, 2021, they barred the community from entering and falsified documents that were shockingly injustice for the community. On December 25, 2021, police were called by them to have the monks illegally evicted from their OWN residence.
The board failed to meet their fiduciary responsibilities in support of the Buddhist religion and community. Barred access to the Temple is a violation to all Buddhist beliefs. The boards number one obligation is to be a fiduciary to the organization and it’s mission statement. And yet instead of spreading Buddhism they force barred holy men from speech.
In 2019, self appointed board member re-establish a list of members. These 4 people should not be allowed to restrict access to the temple. These members held a secret vote outing 4 individuals in charge. Disestablished both monk and president who spoke against this act. This single action has allowed the board to change by-laws and establish new procedures. They changed the order of authority. Put common business men over holy men in holy place. This violates the common beliefs of Buddhist across all countries. This single act allowed these individuals to barred the entrance of holy men in a time of great need inside of the temple. They use this as an opportunity to bring all Buddhist together in which they turned it into an opportunity to shatter the community.
The legitimacy of the board, the legitimacy of their action go against the common belief of Buddhism. How are they allowed to do this? This violates civil rights in these actions. What it does to the community and they’re in violation of Buddhist belief. For decades, donations given were public information and transparent. The funds used for constructing over-crossed funeral expenses. 127 members are in the Funeral Funds Donations as well as members of the temple?!
After multiple requests, board refused to disclosed accurately where community donation goes.
Please join us in the matter of fighting back to get our temple back to its original state…FREE to the community, FREE for the public. Wat Veluvana is a public, praying, holy place with no ownership of no one. IT BELONGS TO ALL THE COMMUNITIES!
