Calling for LADBS Transparency & Action

Calling for LADBS Transparency & Action
The Issue
Attention: Osama Younan, General Manager of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, Mayor Karen Bass, Governor Gavin Newsom.
On January 10, our community was devastated by a mudslide. Such was the damage that the story found its way onto local and national news stations everywhere. This was not the first mudslide.
Our homes and lives remain in peril. The property at 3585 Multiview Drive sits in an earthquake landslide zone. We believe images show it contains tons of unstable soil and unretained cuts into the hillside.
This petition calls for the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to:
- Employ the services of independent soils and grading engineers to create a hillside stabilization plan at 3585 Multiview that will protect our homes.
- Enforce that plan and pay strict attention to ensure our neighborhood's safety.
- Show transparency and make public their actions and inactions regarding 3585 Multiview Drive.
-
View our video footage and photos of the unsupervised activity of Bobcats digging into the hillside at 3585 Multiview Drive directly above our homes and throwing loose dirt down the hillside.
-
View our file of requests to LADBS to enforce a soil erosion and hill stabilization plan at 3585 Multiview Drive which date back nearly two years, BEFORE the two mudslides.
We ask for a public inquiry to answer this question: how was a developer able to make deep cuts into the hillside and dispose of the resulting dirt down the hillside without any effective intervention from the LADBS?
We ask for transparency in what code is currently being enforced, beyond placing plastic sheeting over the loose soil as is happening now, AFTER the rain?
