Call to remove the title of doctor from chiropractors' names & clinical practices Request!
The Issue
Our personal and painful experience symbolizes an issue that plagues many yet largely goes unnoticed. Our chiropractor in Carmel, became a beacon of hope during a time of significant pain and distress. Similar to learning to walk again, we entrusted him over a span of 13 1/2 years, believing that his diagnosis was correct and the constant pain we endured was a part of the healing process. However, upon our incessant requests for a reevaluation, it was revealed that we've been misdiagnosed.
Chiropractic care has gained widespread acceptance in the United States, with over 35 million Americans, both adults and children, receiving chiropractic treatments each year according to the American Chiropractic Association. Yet, not all case studies have a happy ending. It is disheartening to realize that misdiagnoses can prolong suffering, as in our case where a mere reevaluation could have diverted us from years of unwanted agony.
In light of our experience and those of many others, we implore lawmakers to legislate mandatory regular reevaluation of chronic pain patients in chiropractic care. This will provide them with the proper, accurate, and timely treatment they deserve, thereby reducing the chances of long-term unnecessary pain due to misdiagnosis. We ask you to stand with us and demand a change for the sake of all patients seeking chiropractic help across the country. Please sign this petition urging lawmakers to make this crucial change.

multi levels of arthritis up and down my spine and this is what it did for me. Please read below.
When a chiropractor misses multi-level arthritis in a
patient's spine, the consequences could include: inadequate treatment leading to worsening pain, potential for further spinal damage due to inappropriate adjustments, delayed diagnosis of a serious condition, and potential legal repercussions if the missed diagnosis results in significant harm to the patient; it's crucial for chiropractors to perform thorough examinations and utilize appropriate imaging to accurately diagnose spinal conditions like arthritis.
Key points about the potential consequences:
Inadequate pain management:
Without recognizing the arthritis, the chiropractor may focus on treating symptoms with adjustments that are not tailored to the underlying condition, potentially leading to only temporary relief or even increased pain.
Risk of further damage:
If the chiropractor performs manipulations on joints severely affected by arthritis, it could lead to further damage to the cartilage and surrounding tissues, potentially worsening the condition.
Delayed diagnosis of complications:
Untreated or misdiagnosed arthritis can progress to more serious complications like spinal stenosis, where the spinal cord is compressed due to bone spurs, leading to neurological symptoms like numbness and weakness.
Missed opportunity for preventative care:
Early diagnosis of arthritis allows for proactive management through lifestyle changes, exercise modifications, and appropriate pain management strategies.
Legal implications:
In severe cases where a missed diagnosis of arthritis leads to significant harm to the patient, it could result in a medical malpractice lawsuit against the chiropractor.
Important considerations:
Proper examination:
Chiropractors should conduct thorough physical exams, including taking detailed patient history, performing neurological assessments, and utilizing appropriate imaging modalities like X-rays or MRIs to accurately diagnose spinal conditions.
Patient communication:
Open communication between the patient and chiropractor is key to ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment plans, including discussing any concerns or limitations related to the patient's condition.
Referral to specialists:
If the chiropractor suspects a complex spinal condition like severe arthritis, they should refer the patient to a medical specialist for further evaluation and management.
