Call To Action For Butzel Family Center

Call To Action For Butzel Family Center
The Issue
The Butzel Family Center holds a special place in our hearts because it's right in our backyard. We deeply care about the well-being of our community and believe that supporting community development doesn't mean opposing progress. In fact, we fully embrace affordable housing initiatives. However, these projects should be strategically located in areas where they do not compromise the safety, integrity, and character of our neighborhood.
The Arrive Community Development's affordable housing project, planned at the Butzel Family Center and Park, poses several concerns for us. Firstly, the influx of residents may significantly impact parking availability, leading to congestion and inconvenience for current residents. More importantly, the current street design poses safety hazards for both pedestrians and drivers, which would be exacerbated with increased traffic flow.
We believe that affordable housing projects are critical for Detroit's future, but their placement should be thoughtfully considered to support both new and existing community members. Locating such a significant development in a space that already serves as a vital community hub disrupts the natural balance and ambiance of our beloved area.
To protect the integrity of our neighborhood, we propose relocating the Arrive housing development to a more suitable area where it can thrive without these challenges. We also urge the authorities to prevent any future housing developments at the Butzel Family Center and Park, reserving this precious space for activities that unite and benefit the wider community.
Join us in advocating for a thoughtful approach to urban development, one that values both progress and preservation. Please sign this petition to relocate the Arrive housing project and protect our community space for future generations.
