Call to Action

To Whom It May Concern,

Background Information: Gun violence is a present day global human rights issue. Gun violence threatens our most fundamental human right, the right to life. Gun violence disproportionately impacts communities of color, women and other marginalized groups in society. Gun violence is a daily calamity affecting the lives of individuals around the world. “More than 500 people die every day because of violence committed with firearms.”

    Sometimes, the mere presence of firearms can make people feel intimidated and petrified for their lives with severe and long-term psychological effects on individuals and communities. 

   When people are afraid of gun violence, this can also have a negative impact on people’s right to education or health care when they are too afraid to attend schools or health facilities or if these services are not fully functioning due to firearm violence in their community. Such things cause nothing but destruction to the peoples mind, health, and perception. 

Call to Action: We the undersigned are individuals who hope to raise awareness about gun violence and bring ease to those who have been a victim to gun violence or have experienced a glimpse of such an act, by creating a petition. We want everyone in schools to be safe. We want front doors locked at schools. Safety is the most important thing in schools. We need to make this easier for all and lock the front doors! I urge any leaders or a person with power who comes across this, to sign the petition and keep schools safe!
