Call on the United Nations to add “Zero Animal Exploitation” as an 18th SDG

Call on the United Nations to add “Zero Animal Exploitation” as an 18th SDG
The Issue
In 2015, the United Nations introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals as part of its wider agenda for 2030. While the topics outlined in these goals cover many concerns, they do not directly address a key issue: animal exploitation.
Animal exploitation directly undermines the success of each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (To find out more, go to sdg18.org).
To remedy this omission, Beyond Cruelty Foundation launched the SDG 18 Campaign in 2018 with the aim of encouraging representatives to the UN to add SDG 18 - Zero Animal Exploitation to the existing 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. This in turn will motivate nations, organizations, and individuals around the world to adopt policies that seek to reduce and ultimately eliminate our reliance on animals.
A chicken was selected as the symbol for SDG 18, as they make up the largest number of land animals killed for meat every year [70.77 billion in 2020]. See Faunalytics and OurWorldinData for a visual comparative representation of these numbers using data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.
The tile was designed and registered by Beyond Cruelty with the intention of adding it to the existing collection of tiles that represent the UN SDGs. Add your voice along with organizations and individuals around the world working together to give this issue the attention it deserves.
Sign the petition now and help bring SDG 18 Zero Animal Exploitation to the UN’s agenda.
