As a proud Canadian, I am deeply distressed by the disrespectful and antagonistic behavior displayed by President Donald Trump towards my country. Canada and the United States have maintained a prosperous, mutually beneficial relationship for centuries, standing together in adversity, from the World Wars to the 9/11 attacks and the pandemic. Ignoring this historical bond, Trump has consistently directed offensive comments at our nation. This behavior is not only disrespectful, but it also gravely undermines the diplomatic dynamics that serve to keep our countries united and mutually supportive.

Canada, known for its multiculturalism and commitment towards global peacekeeping, continues to stand on guard, nurturing the patriotism of millions of Canadians who live among Americans. Sadly, the current U.S. administration seems to have forgotten or wishes to disparage this shared history and these ties that bind our people.

Moreover, this bullying attitude does not reflect the legacy of the great past leaders of America, who have maintained friendly relations with their Canadian counterparts and understood the endless benefits derived from such a relationship on economy, security, and culture.

It is high time that President Trump shows adequate respect to Canada, halting his unnecessary hostile approach, and works towards strengthening the relationship between our two countries.

We respectfully call on you, President Trump, to acknowledge and rectify your behaviors. Canada is not to be bullied, but rather, it is to be cherished as a valuable friend and ally of the United States.
