Call for Urgent Intervention at the Lenasia South Policing Precinct

Call for Urgent Intervention at the Lenasia South Policing Precinct
The Issue
Dear Residents of the Lenasia South Policing Precinct,
As a concerned resident of Lenasia South, I'm deeply troubled by the ongoing lawlessness and deteriorating state of the Lenasia South Police Station. The station, which serves a vast area including Lenasia South, Vlakfontein, Phulamqashi, Zakariyya Park, Hospital Hils and surrounding informal settlements, Narens Farm, Hillside, and Meriting, is in dire need of urgent intervention.
Currently, the Lenasia South Police Station is operating with only one working vehicle to address a myriad of complaints, including murders, house break-ins, armed robberies, and gender-based violence.
The current manpower is overworked and unable to effectively cope with the high crime rate in our community. We have also received numerous allegations of the SAPS' reluctance to open cases and poor attitudes towards residents.
The station lacks emergency lighting and is plunged into darkness during load shedding, putting both SAPS personnel and the community at risk.
There is literally no visible policing in the area.
Furthermore, there are no resources to effectively host anti crime initiatives like road shows, awareness campaigns etc by SAPS and CPF structures in the precinct
Therefore, on behalf of the residents of the Lenasia South Policing Precinct, I call for urgent intervention in the following areas:
- Full allocation of resources, including vehicles and manpower, to adequately address the high crime rate in our community.
- Urgent relocation of the Lenasia South Police Station to a more appropriate location with proper parking and ample office space for SAPS and CPF members to carry out their duties effectively.
- Stability in terms of a station commander. This precinct is in too much trouble to be used as a halfway house for changing station commanders.
- We urge all members of the community to support this petition today in the best interests of keeping our families and businesses safe.
Thank you for your support and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
Sincerely,
Bangs Naidoo
