Iredell Free News reporter Mark Fuhrman wrote an article revealing how school board members discussed district business through text, violating NC open meeting laws repeatedly since December of 2022.

The record shows that the texts included jokes about having Statesville High School students fight in a “Thunderdome,” discussions of local elected officials, issues such as funding, and even comments about being unable to manage their temper when faced with seeing support of the LGBTQ+ community.

This is not what we want for our students, teachers, staff, and community overall.

 

These members have not only violated the trust of their constituents and disrespected the staff, parents, and students they are meant to be working for, they have violated North Carolina law. They should resign immediately.
