Call for the RESIGNATION of NLMUSD's Special Education Director Maricela Lopez Harvin
The Issue
We, the NLM community, parents, students, and supporters of students who have special education needs at Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District / SELPA 1922, are the promotors of this petition.
We the undersigned community members, parents, teachers, students and concerned citizens of Norwalk – La Mirada schools who we love, support and will continue to advocate for our students stand together to seek the removal of the Special Education Director Maricela Lopez-Harvin
· We are tired of being ignored our emails and phones calls dismissed.
· We are also requesting an audit of Special Education’s Budget so the community can see how much is spent on direct services, how much is no direct services and what does special education have pooled in savings for our students and not being applied to our children.
- We are requesting an investigation of which District Level Administrators knew about the multiple violations she committed violating IDEA Act/FAPE/IEPs and did nothing. They are also responsible for failing the community.·
- It is parents fundamental right to protect and be active particpants in the education of their children. Public schools serve to the needs of our communities.
-
In order to bring NLMUSD back to high quality education, specializing in the needs our students with disabilities provide high quality
-
We the parents and community respectfully request her resignation as soon as possible.
