On 27/10/23, a GMC registered Doctor and a member of the RCPCH, Dr Richard Daniels submitted the following post on the social media platform X:

"A ceasfire is a win for Hamas. You can dress it up however you like, but it's a fact. 

That doesn't mean aid shouldn't get to those in need and doesn't abrogate the responsibility of Israel to prosecute the war in accordance with applicable laws, but a ceasefire is unconscionable".

Regardless of where one stands on the Isreal-Palestine discourse, we believe that it is unequivocally unacceptable for a practicing medical professional in the United Kingdom to oppose a humanitarian ceasefire that would ultimately prevent the death of innocent children.

To put politics over the lives of children is against everything being a doctor stands for. It is deeply concerning that a paediatrician, who works for the benefit and welfare of children, holds such beliefs and felt comfortable airing such beliefs on a public forum.

We call on the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Peadiatrics and Child Health to investigate this further and consider whether such a person is deemed fit to be practicing as a children's doctor in the United Kingdom.
