By calling for a re-election when MPs or MLAs switch parties, we can safeguard democratic values and ensure that power remains with the people. Elected MPs or MLAs who believe their party has changed platform/policy since election may choose to sit "independently" (if re-elections are considered waste of resources/money).

We urge legislative bodies and election commissions to amend existing laws or introduce new regulations that mandate a by-election in the event of party defection by elected representatives. This change will reinforce the accountability of politicians to their voters and prevent any misuse of power.
