While speaking to New Hampshire Republicans on April 30, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN06), a potential Republican presidential candidate, said that Americans' tax burden is similar to the Holocaust.  Specifically, she said that while "there is no analogy to that horrific action," the potential "loss of economic liberty" is a "flash point in history" for which future generations will demand answers, just like the Holocaust.  She further said, "we are seeing eclipsed in front of our eyes a similar death and a similar taking away. It is this disenfranchisement that I think we have to answer to."

While comparisons to the Holocaust are bad enough, making such a statement on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) is beyond the pale.  

Bachmann must publicly apologize for her outrageous statement.  And if she isn't willing to do so on her own, the Republican House leadership must make her do so.
