The Issue
Dear Community Members, consumers, Attorney General Letitia James, BBB, NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of State, Geico Insurance,
I am reaching out to share my distressing experience with TNS Auto Collision located at 1011 61st St, Brooklyn, NY 11219, and to urgently request your support in preventing further consumer harm. After falling victim to their unsatisfactory and potentially fraudulent business practices, I believe it is imperative for this matter to be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate actions are taken to hold TNS Auto Collision accountable.
The gravity of my experience compels me to urge:
- Attorney General Letitia James to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the practices of TNS Auto Collision to uncover any legal violations and to ensure consumer protection laws are upheld.
- Better Business Bureau (BBB) and NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) to review and reassess the operational license and accreditation of TNS Auto Collision based on consumer complaints and evidence of malpractice.
- Department of Motor Vehicles (Division of Vehicle Safety, Division of Consumer Protection in the Department of State) to scrutinize and reevaluate the business’s compliance with automotive service and safety standards.
- Geico Insurance Company to reconsider its association with TNS Auto Collision as a recommended Geico Pro Body Shop, in light of the negative experiences reported by customers, including myself, to ensure that Geico’s clients receive the highest standard of service.
Here is a brief summary of TNS Auto Collision practice that I have encountered:
Vehicle owners please be aware. This place is a scam. Everyone should absolutely avoid getting their car fixed here. If you go there for an estimate, they will deceive you into signing. Then, the insurance money will be directly transferred to this shop. After taking the money (which will already be in their account after two weeks), they will tell you that the original parts for the car are not available. In reality, because they are not a high-end car approved/certified repair shop, for cars like Tesla, they simply cannot obtain the original parts needed for repairs. By the time the car owner finds out, it's too late, because they won't refund your money after taking it. I just want to say, if your car is new or original, it won't be worth its original value after being repaired by this shop because 1. They are not specially trained to repair such cars, and 2. The parts they replace are likely to be second-hand. Moreover, this repair shop is utterly untrustworthy. For example, when insurance says you are not an approved Tesla repair shop, they will tell your insurance that they will refund the money. They say they will refund it in the first week, in the process of refunding in the second week, and in the third week they say they cannot refund because the parts have arrived. Moreover, they will directly become unreachable; they won't reply to emails. When you call to ask if they received the email, they say the email (printed on the business card) cannot be used, cannot receive messages. When you go for an estimate, they will tell you, the insurance won't increase, but our insurance went up 20% because TNS took $5297.90 from insurance payout. The scariest part is they took the money without being able to fix the car, then your car insurance goes up, and then you have to spend your own money to get it repaired at an approved shop. If you complain to the BBB, they will say, oh, the car owner knew we were not an approved Tesla repair shop. Think about it, is this possible? Who would willingly get their car repaired at an uncertified place, then wait indefinitely for parts, or have their new car replaced with old parts, and then have the car devalue? Meanwhile, the insurance money is in their pockets. They did nothing and got a lot of money.
This place even asked car owners for a cash deposit before they received the insurance money. I said I could only give a check, then they just let it go. Finally, I want to say, never sign any document they give you. If you have insurance, you can request that the insurance only communicates with the car owner. If the car is already paid off, you can have the insurance directly pay the car owner for the repair compensation. Shops like TNS specifically scam Chinese people. Everyone please be aware. I will continue to complain to government departments, I will sue TNS in small claims court, and I will also ask local officials for help to get my insurance payout back. If you have been deceived in the same way, you should take the same measures. We cannot tolerate such dishonest shops.
