I've been noticing a frustrating trend—women's only spaces often have to be child-friendly. It's like we've lost the simple privacy we used to have. I love kids, really, but it’s disheartening to always accommodate our spaces because some fathers aren't stepping up enough. Why is it when I go to the masjid, it's usually the women's side that’s filled with kids? Have we forgotten that men also play a role in parenting?

So many of my friends are single moms and I completely understand that childcare options can be limited. Being a good parent often means having your child with you at all times. But this shouldn't mean it's only the mother's responsibility to manage the child in public spaces designated for women. Fathers have an equal role and should also be stepping up to share these responsibilities. It's a matter of balance and fairness.

By encouraging equal parenting responsibilities, we directly address these gender imbalances. This isn't just for women's sake, but to enrich the parenting experience for everyone involved. Fathers need to have active roles, from daily activities to sharing time in places typically designated as women's spaces.
