Call for Accountability at MPB Parish and School-Please keep comments civil and productive

The Issue

Dear Archbishop Aquila and Archdiocesan Leadership,

We, the undersigned, are writing as deeply invested members of the Most Precious Blood (MPB) parish and school community — including parents, parishioners, alumni, and longtime supporters — to express our urgent concern about the health and future of MPB under the pastoral leadership of Fr. Daniel Ciucci.

Over the past four years, a growing number of parishioners, school families, staff, and ministry volunteers have expressed serious concern regarding the leadership and direction of our parish and school. We feel there has been a loss of "psychological safety" at MPB, that staff, parishioners, and parents do not feel empowered or comfortable sharing concerns, for fear of retribution or feedback falling on deaf ears. Many feel unheard, unwelcome, and uncertain about the future of the Most Precious Blood community.

Our specific concerns include:
• A sharp and sustained decline in parish and school morale, participation, and community spirit.
• A dramatic turnover in faculty, staff, and ministry leaders — including beloved and long-serving teachers, administrators, and parish staff.
• A significant drop in school and parish enrollment.
• A growing lack of trust and transparency between parish leadership and the wider community.

Most concerning is the pastor’s leadership approach, which many perceive as unilateral. Decisions are often made without consultation, collaboration, or regard for community input. Feedback and concerns from parishioners, parents, and staff are routinely dismissed or ignored, leaving many to feel that their voices no longer matter. Many individuals who have attempted to share constructive feedback have experienced retaliation or negative consequences, leading others to remain silent out of fear or frustration. This dynamic has significantly contributed to a sense of disconnection, frustration, and declining morale across the community.

Over the past several years members of our school community have been asked on numerous occasions to complete surveys and provide feedback regarding important issues affecting our students, families, and staff. While we have participated in good faith—believing our voices would lead to meaningful improvements—we have seen little to no constructive follow-up or action in response.

This repeated cycle of soliciting input without transparent outcomes has caused concern, disappointment, and a growing sense of disillusionment. When feedback is sought but not visibly addressed, it undermines trust in leadership and sends a message that community voices are not truly valued.

We believe that these issues have led to a widespread loss of confidence in the current pastoral leadership and an erosion of the vibrant, connected community Most Precious Blood has long been known for.

Therefore, we respectfully request the following from the Archdiocese:

1. A formal listening session facilitated by a representative from the Archdiocese with a cross-section of parishioners, school families, ministry leaders, and staff, to allow for open and respectful sharing of concerns and ideas for improvement.

2. A formal pastoral review or assessment of our current parish leadership, taking into account the spiritual, relational, and operational health of both the parish and the school.

3. Interim pastoral support or guidance, if needed, while a longer-term solution is discerned.

We do not bring these requests lightly. Our goal is not to sow division, but to advocate for healing and renewal within a parish that means so much to so many. Most Precious Blood has long been known for its welcoming spirit, strong intergenerational community, and outstanding Catholic education. We hope to preserve and strengthen this legacy for current and future families.

We trust in your care for our parish and respectfully ask for timely consideration of our concerns and requests. We welcome the opportunity to be part of a path forward.

With faith and hope,
