The Issue

Residents of Libertyville are coming together to call for accountability, clear standards of conduct, and leadership that reflects and respects our community.

Two letters are currently being submitted to Village leadership:

Why this matters
Recently, a public comment made on social media by an appointed commissioner raised serious concerns about professionalism, respect, and accountability within Village government. Beyond a single incident, this moment has highlighted larger, long-standing issues:

  • The absence of a clearly articulated code of conduct for elected and appointed Village officials, particularly regarding social media and public communications.
  • A lack of consistent, transparent accountability when standards are violated.
  • Ongoing concerns about representation, including the meaningful inclusion of women on Village boards and commissions.

For many residents, this represents a tipping point and an opportunity to ask for clearer expectations, better governance practices, and leadership that reflects the values and diversity of Libertyville today.

What the letters call for
By signing, you are supporting requests for:

  • Appropriate accountability measures in response to the recent incident.
  • The adoption of a formal code of conduct for all Village officials and commissioners.
  • The development of policies or ordinances to ensure minimum gender representation on Village boards and commissions.
  • Transparent communication from Village leadership, including a plan of action and timeline.
