The Issue

Our personal love and passion for the arts are what have brought us together, and it's this shared respect for the performance that fuels this petition. It has come to our attention that the selected songs for the upcoming mixed SATB choral festival do not harmonize with the overall theme. An undeniable impact of such discordance is potential erosion of the inherent beauty we all anticipate from the slideshow.

Given the significant role music plays in molding the emotional ambiance, the selected songs should be symbiotic with the theme. In 2017, a study by the Journal of Music Perception found that appropriate music could enhance the overall experience of a visual presentation by more than 40% (Journal of Music Perception, 2017). This aligns with our own observations, as we all have experienced that profound moment when the synergy between visual content and music engulfs us entirely.

We aren't merely spectators, but active members of the art community, and we believe in our collective capability to make a difference. We urge the organizing committee to consider a revote and reassessment of the selections. Our aim isn't to undermine their effort but to ensure that the final presentation is consonant in its entirety. Therefore, we are calling for a revote on the mixed SATB choral festival choir songs to better represent the theme.

Please join us, sign this petition and let our collective voice echo in our plea for harmonious artistic expression.
