On September 9, 2019, a rape was reported in the Nutwood Parking Structure on the Cal State Fullerton Main Campus. Just a few weeks prior, on the week of August 22, a former Cal State Fullerton employee was "stabbed multiple times inside his car, which was parked in a campus lot."

Students and faculty should not have to fear for their safety on campus. University should be a place where people feel as though they can learn and better their lives without the risk of being harmed or killed.

A CSUF student on reddit.com/r/csuf wrote, "No lie, I do not feel safe on campus. This is coming from a 27 year old male. This is because in my first semester at this school i have seen zero, and I mean ZERO campus security or police. I really wouldn't mind it. Just the simple presence of a force would make people think twice about committing a crime."

Actionable Next Steps to Upgrade Campus Security: 

1. Install surveillance cameras within every parking structure on campus. Include cameras in the stairwells, elevators, and each floor
2. Create Work-Study Jobs for Student Chaperones to escort fellow students to their vehicles.
3. Have a security guard posted at each parking garage at all times
