Deregulate the Barber License in California.

Deregulate the Barber License in California.
The Issue
Due to the disservices that have been going on in the State of California brought on by Gavin Newsom, Health Officials and now unfortunately the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology we felt it only right to speak openly on these matters as it seems the barber industry is under attack. As barbers struggle to pay rent, digging deeper into minimal cash reserves available, the effect has been felt by every apprentice, barber, and shop owner throughout the state. As of recent, the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology has started taking disciplinary action against shop owners by suspending and revoking establishment licenses without probable cause. A disservice of this magnitude shows the inefficiency and irrelevance of an entity such as the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
Not all regulations are created equal.
When licensing requirements are not based on demonstrated skills, they close off opportunities to advance for persons who learn on the job or pick up skills on their own without formal education. We must ask why is it required to complete 1500 hours to receive a barbers license yet it only takes 664 hours to become a police officer? You can become a sniper in the U.S. Marine Corps by completing training for 79 days, which is roughly 632 hours. A simple online quiz can grant you a Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification to become a tattoo artist. The list goes on and on. These are the questions we must ask to understand that our industry has been exploited for decades and it will only get worse if we don't put a stop to it now. Now is the time for barbers to unite to take back our industry from the grips of greedy government agencies and create a higher standard that will further our industry.
Together Our Voice is Powerful!
Our liberties protected by the Constitution are not fair-weather freedoms — in place when times are good but forgotten in times of trouble. We must refuse to comply with the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology due to their enforcement of Governor Newsom’s executive order which violates the Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, Ninth and 14th amendments of the Constitution of the United States.
- The Fourth Amendment protects citizens from unreasonable search and seizure without a warrant issued by a judge.
- The Fifth Amendment requires due process before a citizen is sentenced or receives punishment for a crime.
- The Eighth Amendment protects citizens from excessive bail, excessive fines and unusual punishments.
- The Ninth Amendment states that the list of rights enumerated in the Constitution is not exhaustive, and that the people retain all rights not enumerated.
- The 14th Amendment states that no state can enforce any law that will abridge the privileges and or immunities of the citizens of the United States.
Knowledge is power, if you don't know your rights you don't have any! If you will sit there and do nothing we will stand here and do something. We will confidently exercise and if needed defend our unalienable rights with legal action.
Whats Next?
- Form a Union.
- File a Class Action Lawsuit.
- Identify alternatives to barber licensing that would work effectively.
- Introduce a Bill in Congress.
- Save our Industry.
Together Our Voice is Powerful!
If you wholeheartedly care about the future of the barber industry in California then it is crucial that you help spread the word about what is happening. Help put a stop to these wrongful actions and make #nolicensenoproblem your new motto for the new year.
