TW: sexual harassment

According to the Pew Research Center, 53 percent of women and 37 percent of men in America have received unwanted sexually explicit images. Sharing unwanted lewd images is a modern form of sexual harassment called cyber-flashing. However, it is not recognized as a chargeable offense. You would demand justice for being flashed on the street, why wouldn’t you want the same for online harassment?

The California FLASH Act (SB 53) introduced by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) and Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach), establishes legal protections for those affected by virtual sexual harassment. Individuals who knowingly send sexually explicit images without consent can be subjected to fines up to $5,000.

Help victims of online harassment seek justice by making your voices heard. Sign this petition, and go a step further by contacting your representatives. Make your voice heard. Time’s up on unwanted d*ck pics!
