Caerphilly C.B.C, let Trethomas have a Central Park and play area for the children
Why this petition matters
Trethomas does not have a central Park. The Bryn Park and playing fields are on the boundary with Bedwas (next to Bedwas high school, Bedwas library, Bedwas swimming pool, Bedwas Workman’s Hall). This is too far for children to walk. Park’s should be central to the community they serve and accessible for all. We have had kickboards taken away, playing fields left to grow wild so the children in the local community have next to nothing by way of facilities whereas surrounding villages have skate parks, outdoor gym facilities and play equipment. It’s very unfair on local children. There are many areas in Trethomas that could be used for this purpose. Children living at the “terraced end” of Trethomas face a 15-20 minute walk to get to the nearest park, across various roads. At a time where improvement to mental health and physical activity are encouraged especially due to increases in childhood obesity are concerned I am sure many would agree parks are an excellent way to get children out in the fresh air, active and doing so safely.
