Save the Solar Strand from demolition

The Issue

The Solar Strand began life as the Crosskeys pub but was renamed as part of a recent rebrand.

The whole village was named after the pub (Crosskeys) after initially being called ‘Pont-y-Cymer’.

A planning application has been submitted to demolish the pub and build 11 houses in its place. This will be a great loss to the village and a huge part of its history will be gone.

The Crosskeys is the last public house in Crosskeys (not including the rugby club) and opportunities for us as a community to attend social activities are now severely lacking. This will have an impact on the social cohesiveness of Crosskeys.

A minimum of 11 cars (22 if they are multiple car households) entering and exiting at the proposed position will be a great danger to pedestrians and other traffic as it already holds 2 junctions at the proposed site.

This petition is to scrap the plans for demolition and return it to the community pub and hub that it once was.
