Spay and Neuter Ordinance for Caddo Parish
The Issue
It is no secret that our animal community is small in numbers when you look at those who constantly donate money, time, and resources to try to fix the constant problem that we have here as opposed to those who constantly cause the problems by breeding, not spaying and neutering, not vaccinating, not being held responsible for their animal’s health and care, and not microchipping. We are merely a small bandaid to a problem that can be fixed, in time of course, with ordinances in place that require either licensing for animals, spay and neuter laws, or mandatory microchipping.
We hope to hold microchip clinics, rabies clinics, heartworm clinics, and vaccines clinics very soon. We love our local spay and neuter clinic for the time and work their team puts in to slowing down the constant growth of the animal population and in hopes, have better health for all of our animals here. This is all still a bandaid though, because until we make the community responsible for the hundreds of animals brought into Caddo MONTHLY that is all our rescue group and all other rescue groups will be.
Our plans are to get into schools, have summer camps, and continue to engage with our community to try to educate on the importance of heartworm prevention and why spaying and neutering are so important, but we have to have help and backing from the governing body in our area. I truly believe with the right things set in place we can push for a better and bigger animal community.
