Pollution is a word that we are all aware of these days. What does it mean exactly? If you look up "pollution" in the dictionary you will find something like - "to destroy purity of; to contaminate, especially with man-made waste". Yes the environment, i.e. our surroundings, the place we live, is being made unclean by our own activities. The pollutants we produce not only affect our own lives but also those of other living things, the plants and animals that we share our environment with. All living things depend upon the non-living parts of the environment to survive - the land, the air and the water, and it is these 3 parts which are affected by pollution. Littlewood et al. (2019).

Here in Cabanatuan city, pollution is a big problem due to many improper activity of the community such as improper waste disposal, air pollution from vehicles, and the dumpsite in Valle Cruz. This not only affects the environment but also our health. These wastes clogs the canals, resulting in flooding, the smoke coming from vehicles releases noxious gases which harms atmosphere, the dumpsite which pollute the soil also harms the environment.

So what is the solution in order to solve and stop these problems? Just follow and perform these:

•Proper waste management

•5 R's- Refuse, Reuse, Reduce, Repurpose, Recyle

•Use environmentally safe products

•Do composting

•Don't litter

•Report improper activities which harms environment
