CA State Assembly: Repeal Assembly Bill 1043 immediately

CA State Assembly: Repeal Assembly Bill 1043 immediately
The Issue
As concerned citizens of California (and other regions), we would like to call for a referendum on A.B. 1043, the unprecedented breach of civil liberties in the Golden State, is a breach of our most core values of personal freedom and privacy. We would like to call for a repeal of A.B. 1043 on the grounds that it is a breach of user privacy, and not feasible to community driven enterprises and small businesses to create a centralized database for open source software and Operating System developers to compete in the marketplace of ideas. AB 1043 is a power grab for Silicon Valley and nothing more, as they can easily comply to any new rules, no matter the cost involved with implementation. FOSS developers have no such resources and as such, operating systems like Linux, BSD, or even lesser known players such as Haiku OS will be forced to stop offering their Operating Systems in California and this has already begun to take effect. This is a breach of California's supposedly held values of small business entrepreneurship and upward mobility for the less fortunate. AB 1043 would give corporate conglomerates such as google, Apple, and Microsoft, an unfair advantage in the marketplace and all but eliminate any Open Source alternatives, eliminating over 30 years of legal precedent. FOSS developers CANNOT AFFORD to maintain a database of their users, because it will ruin their reputation as Open Source Software developers, being that the whole point of the FOSS community is not to be spied on by Big Brother. The Repeal A.B. 1043 Campaign believes that A.B. 1043 is an unjust power grab for large corporations, and will do next to nothing to “Protect the Kids” as the propaganda we’ve been fed about this bill would lead us to believe. Keep big brother surveillance OUT of FOSS Software development. being forced to create mass surveillance databases ruins the whole point of GNU/Linux and mainstream Operating System providers are committing a grave moral sin by submitting to such laws.
I, ________, am Calling for the repeal of A.B. 1043 and other unjust laws that unfairly disadvantage free open source software developers in favor of furthering corporate oligarchies, regardless if that was the intention of the bill or not, the end result of the bill will be a consolidation of power for tech giants and this must be stopped. We are calling for the Immediate Repeal of Assembly Bill 1043 NOW!
